HI, I’m looking at starting a “small group” as there are none in my area. My concern is finding other people to join my group as I live in a rural town 60 miles southwest of Chicago. I would also like any feed about how things are going with other groups good or bad. Thanks
Hi Scott,
I was in the same boat - not a lot around me and no groups. I do have equipment and teaching experience though so I decided to just go for it and create the group. There’s only been a couple of people interested so far but both are within an easy driving distance.
The other thing is it might be a chicken and egg sort of situation. Perhaps people aren’t on the map because they don’t see a group and don’t think it’s worth adding themselves to the list yet. You’ll never know unless you try!
Lastly, I’d rather help 1 or 2 folks out than feel like I’ve done nothing at all for our cause. I don’t care if there are large numbers, nor could I really accommodate that. Start small, promote it on the FB page, and I bet local folks will start showing up.
Best wishes,
Tom Z
My advice is patience. A few months ago we didn’t even know what a Small Group was and then they started springing up. The trick is to register and set a date down the road to start… also create your Facebook Group as directed by our team.
We will Be Pushing content out and talking about the Academy Groups… and then people can look in their area and see your group. Many groups had the same problem but now have to many people trying to join:-)
Also, on Facebook- search “Academy Small Group” and you will see a ton of them populate. Join some that look busy, especially Group 1, 7 and the one in Hayward CA, think it’s like 66 or something like that… watch and learn and ask the Hosts question.
There will be much more action on the Forum as we let people in.
Thanks for the quick responses and the positive attitude towards helping people learn our craft. This hole thing has me excited about the future of manufacturing and my ability to help even a small few like Tom said. I will jump in with both feet this afternoon after I clear my desk of new orders we got this morning BOOM!!!
Note: this topic was moved into “The Blueprint” category.
Update, I went thru the process of starting my own small group Monday. I got a email saying I am the host of a small group and I can see a pin on your map that is linked to “Scott Carpenters group”. I also Joined the facebook page as recommended in your email. I would like to do more to get the ball rolling but I can’t seem to figure out how to manage my group. where do I find my group number? how do I set a possible start date? I would like to some how put some picture up of the shop, parts Etc. to try and get people interested in joining the group. Please advise and thanks in advance.
Give Team Titan little bit of time they will contact you with more emails as time goes by with more information.
If you haven’t heard anything in a few more days I’d reach out to the team but they have been pretty good about getting that information out. I got a spreadsheet with a couple of interested prospects in my area that I reached out to. As you start to advertise your group more people will reach out. It’s up to each group leader to set dates and times and manage the group though.
Best wishes and good luck!

Yeah I got it over the weekend. I was trying to make sure I didn’t miss something. Also, I’m not the best at waiting around when I get into something I want to be moving forward all the time getting one step closer to the goal. It’s how I approach everything set a goal. Figure out the steps/path to get to that goal and starting moving forward down that path everyday. even if it’s a really small step getting that done put you that much closer. Anyways group #100 BOOM!!!
Because we want you to move at your speed most of our processes are automated, but we also have some manual ones. Each badge is individually numbered and sent by a Person. One day soon, this will be automated, but until then we thank you for your patience!
#100 That is Awesome!
Thanks for stepping up…
I only have a minute but please list any questions you still have and I will pop back on here this weekend to answer:-)
