Getting a foot in the door - CV Help

Following a thread on the Titans facebook forum on ‘Trying to get in a real machine shop that wants 5 years experience…’ I thought it may be an idea for members to share CV writing and interview tips and tricks for those of us who didn’t travel the traditional apprenticeship route, and finding the path a little more difficult to start as a result.

I started out as a complete novice to the trade at the age of 42, and worked my way from part-time evening classes whilst unemployed to my first real precision engineering workshops. It’s not been easy, and has taken 4 years of hard work so far, but determination and attitude opens doors.

If its useful, please feel free to use my CV for inspiration in writing yours

You’re welcome

Would you be willing to post a copy of yours once written, to keep the inspiration flowing?
