Hello my new friends,
This is Travis Sherwood.
I have been in manual machining field sense I was 15 in high school shop class now I’m forty somthing.
I wanted to run CNC’s but not to blow my own horn, I was the best manual machineist in the shop, the goto guy. So I was stuck hunched over a manual lathe mill VTL, boring mill grinder… So in 2001 I went the bank browned $25’000 and built Sherwood Machining & Tooling from the ground up. Starting with bare ground did most of the work myself. I had help from friends erecting the 30’ wide and 18’ long U shaped Quonset hut $4800. $4000 for the three phase Electric, $1000 of cement, $1000 for a 9’ 9’ roll up door. $$$$ lumber for footings rebar wire … That didn’t leave much of a budget four machines & tooling.Talked with Kent Industrial & they bought the last of the Sony Mill Stations CNC controls so they made me a offer I couldn’t refuse. $10’000 for a new 10" x 52" 2 axis CNC VFD turret mill. I started a subscription with the company MFG. Com, a quote work online system. I was literally competing with the rest of the world. Working through the good the bad & the ugly of manufacturing.
Fast forward to today, still a one man machine shop my sun has learned CNC milling on that Sony mill & is using the money he’s made to work his way through college. He has a different dreem than machine shop. I have added a 1995 Revolution CNC 3 axis bed Mill no tool changer, 2001 CNC engine lathe with tool turret 19?? 15" 50" clausing Colchester engine lathe. All were bought used on eBay. Not by choice I bought them all from Liers who were not honest about the true condition of them. I have a lot of Bblood sweat & tears built into this business.
I have the hope to share the knowledge I have acquired over my lifetime of learning.
I saw one of my contacts on LinkedIn sheared Titans Academy small groups, I was solid on this opportunity. I signed up ASAP & now I’m the host of group 5.
May God bless You and keep You! In Jesus name.
