My name is Kevin Davenport and I am a high school teacher. I teach an engineering course and we have a Tormach 440. I am thinking of starting a Small Group for Northeast Florida.
Welcome abord Kevin . I have thought about getting one of those machines for my garage I allows have something I would like to make. What do you think of it and did you go with the ATC ?
I’m very very happy with it as a hobby machine - I do not have the ATC.
It’s encouraging to see your interest in machining.
Hi Kevin
I am in connecticut. I teach HS and have tormach equipment too 770 and slant pro lathe
what are you making with your mill? I am into keychains and SODA bottle cap openers.
i would love to make the chess set at some point. Did you do the chess set activity here? I had my students do the set in inventor (slightly different interface).

It’s great to have you here Kevin welcome.
Hi Kevin
I am in Jacksonville. Where are you located?
I am in S Jacksonville. Julington Creek. What’s your background? I really wanted to get a small group off the ground.
Thanks,
Kevin Davenport
I work for a medical device company and design/build fixtures equipment for our products. I have dabbled in a little machining and looking to learn more about Fusion and cnc and possibly start a little side business. You have anyone else thats interested in a group?
I don’t have anyone currently interested, but am looking. I teach high
school and have access to a Tormach 440 and 3d printers in my classroom. I
know / teach CAD - AutoCad, Inventor, SolidWorks and Fusion and am learning
CAM and CNC. I dabble in some 2d laser cutting at home. I have some
students who might be wiling to participate in a small group as well. I
haven’t created one yet, but let me know if you are interested.
We would have to meet in the late afternoon or early evening, here at
school - some Sunday mornings would be the only weekend time.
What company do you work for?
Let me know your thoughts.
