The second op on the 10M has caused a lot of trial and error on my part… ( mostly error ) 
Tim my tool path strategy is similar to yours… The secret to the second op lies in using
“patch”. So that your parallel tool path will not dip down into holes and give you that Titan finish…
It will also help with the earlier adaptive tool paths… here are a couple of links to two short videos on how to patch…

Also my project is being machined on a Tormach… So the tool paths are not as aggressive as the larger machines…
