Hey folks. I’m new to milling but very mechanically inclined. I have a LMS 3990 mini mill and I want to convert it to CNC. I have no idea where to start. Can someone offer suggestions to the conversion/upgrade?

I’m not affiliated with Centroid CNC - just a satisfied customer who owns a shop full of Centroid CNC machines

Hey Cliff. If you are looking in to converting that mill to cnc I’d start by downloading Mach4 program from Artsoft https://www.machsupport.com/ Assuming you have a cad/cam Program to Generate your G-code and do some simulations. Everything is free so far, once you get to know the programs and you are still positive then its time to buy your Hardware. (I recommend ESS/MB3) and some stepper motors.
