Greeting from Los Angeles… I work as a software dev but wanted to get into cnc (mostly for fun, create custom cases for IOT [internet of things] projects, etc… out of plastic and aluminum)
How do I get started without dropping 10-30k on a cnc machine?
If anyone could point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it.
– poss options I found
Found this (diy) https://openbuildspartstore.com
tormach pcnc 440 (~ 6,495 +options)
MR-1 CNC Gantry Mill | Langmuir Systems (~4k)
Nomad 3 - Desktop CNC Mill - Carbide 3D (nomad 3 ~3k) this seems like a good option.
I recommend you sign up for the Academy what’s the videos starting with the fundamentals and then progressing through building blocks. Look at the map and see if there is a host group near you.https://academy.titansofcnc.com/

Same recommendation that @Rumpelstiltskin suggested!
So would the small groups have the equipment to get started or would I need a desktop cnc or the like to get some hands on exp? Starting with the fundamentals and going from there. Thanks for the reply!
@spiritedawayostrichl the small group should have the machines needed to make the parts.
Awesome! Yea I was thinking I would need to get my own machine to get going. Excited to get started!
