Does anyone have a chuck for a Haas TL 1? 8"?

Hi All,

I am looking for a 8" +/- chuck for a 2014 Haas TL 1 lathe. Cheap!

The school I am helping out at never had a chuck installed on their TL 1. Turns out the chuck is not included with the lathe. They ordered one from the local HFO and it was delivered after the lathe was installed, but the box was never opened. 4 years later I open the box and try to install the chuck. It doesn’t fit. Wrong adapter plate. They supplied one for an A1-6 spindle. Seems the TL 1 has a A2-5 spindle. The HFO feels bad but it’s been 4 years. They tried a swap with a chuck they had on hand but it didn’t fit either. The chuck we have is an 8" from LMC workholding. From the picture on the web site it looks like Haas is using a Samchully chuck now. Even if I could get just an adapter plate from them to fit the lathe it probably wouldn’t fit our chuck. I am getting a quote from LMC for an adapter plate. Hmmm, Maybe the HFO will split the cost of the plate with me?

Anybody got a chuck? Or a better idea?

Thanks,
Chuck

So how are things going did you get that chuck going with the new adapter we got?

Hi Travis,

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. We did get the lathe up and running. Thanks again for your help. We have made a couple of parts with it. One of the pictures is chess pawn a student made last year. I hope to use it for more parts this year. There are also some pictures of a couple of Titan milled parts the students are making. There is also the tiger we make because the Dunbar High School mascot is a tiger. The First Robotics season starts next week. We made some robot parts last year. We should be able to make some more this year.
So things are going pretty well.

Thank you,

Chuck Cantieny
