Hi.
Just starting out with a new machine and wanting to get some clients , my question is “Calling business VS going to the Business?” I see titan talk a lot about making lots of phone calls, is this a better method? When you call , who do you ask to talk to? Any support and suggestions are much appreciated.
Regards
Chris
Hello @ChrisAtack
It takes a blended effort to get customers. Calling in person visits advertising & social media. However I have personally never got any business from cold calling or in person door knocking. I did get a nice bit of work from LinkedIn once. I started my business with the mindset of joining mfg.com and quoting work from home. I do not per say recommend this either because it is a tough row to hoe. I wish you the best!
@ChrisAtack Back in the eighties/early nineties I covered an area from Dallas to Memphis, 2 weeks of the month I was on the road stopping at each our existing customers and approaching new customers. We mailed out brochures and followed up with phone call and a visit. Kept up good relations with the purchasing agents at each business, they liked face to face. I would quote on the road and/or send work back to the shop. Be nice to the gate keepers (receptionists/operator), they will put you in front of the person you need to talk to. We didn’t have social media, I was pretty modern, I had a Motorola bag phone
As Titan mentioned “I had to feed the beast” We had 200 machines, 50-70 machinists that needed something to do.
