Hi. My name’s Patrick, and I, uh… I am a machinist.
I went through a state-run technical college for machining and graduated about three and a half years ago, then moved into a job at a small local job shop. My career has accelerated since then, going from operator trainee to programmer.
I’ve tried my hand at manual milling, turning and grinding, basic G-coding of Haas mills and more advanced coding of lathes, as well as Solidworks CAD and SolidCAM. I enjoy my job greatly and love the opportunity to spread my experience, while also learning.
I’m happy to join this forum and plan to give and take, learning from everyone else and offering what I can. I appreciate Mr. Gilroy and his efforts to make the machining trade more well-known and appreciated.
I also have a hobby shop of my own which gets little use - but as things in my life get more in order I plan to expand on my capabilities and perhaps one day have my own business, or at least hobby I can make money with!
That’s all for now, thank you.
