I have never programmed them but I do understand the principles and should be able to do it. The first issue is defining the Tool in Inventors Tool Library it doesn’t show the right Thread Mill that I have.
Have you tried importing one from your tool manufacturer? I am not sure how to do it but most all provide a solid model of there tools. You may have to ask a sails rep.
I will look into that today and see what I can find
I know McMaster Carr hase ware you can download right from there website. They may have your tool.
I will give them a check and hopefully get what I need Thanks.
Hello Mike,
I just posted a new topic over on “Academy Projects” that would have been answered by your post. I should have done a search before hand, I guess.
Anyway, I would most certainly be in favor of some sort of permanent thread dedicated to Inventor HSM. I have access to it and Fusion but, to me, it actually seems more intuitive than Fusion. Plus I like the fact it’s not tethered to “the cloud.”
If there is no “official” restriction against using it to complete the projects then I would prefer to use Inventor.
Thx, John
I seen your other post John and the biggest thing that Titan is doing is just bringing the training to everyone that wants it. I’m here to help all I certainly can that’s for sure too.
I have been running into issues with if i want to edit a part that my engineer make in solidworks. I have to go to him just to make like hole size changes or anything. Is there a way around this that I’m missing. Even if i open up an Assembly and want to just pull one part out to run it I can’t do it.
Any help would be appreciated.
What we do here is they make the assemblies and save all files to server and I link my programs to the part file on the server. So, any updates are easy to just reprogram, but it doesn’t work the other way.
Well with much debate and searching. I finally have an answer far as going in reverse Inventor to Solidworks. There is no way unless I save and then export into a file SolidWorks will read, and then the Engineers doing some work. So, its just easier to either do what I need to for mounting purpose and not bother them. Secondly, just go bother them and have them do work for me. Oh well world can’t be perfect.
Ok so I’m making a move into Mold Making / Tool & Die with this new job.
I will be working on EDM Machines for the 1st time in my 10 years of Machining, but its a step that I want to take. This is a great opportunity with not only EDM Machines but also Mold and Tool & Die.
So I was looking at some programs and seems simple enough from the test programs at least. I know that it will get more involved in the future. They are bringing in the Company to Train a coworker and me to run these machines.
Has anyone on here programmed EDM with Inventor/Fusion or other Auto Desk Products? I would like to pick you brain a little as to some basic programming things. I’m no FNG to Machining nor Programming so if you don’t mind helping someone let me know.
Thanks for an help or information.
I haven’t done any EDM programming, however, I know that Autodesk’s FeatureCam and Powermill both have the ability to do EDM, where as, at least right now, AutodeskHSM products(Inventor, Fusion 360 and HSM Works) cannot. Both FeatureCAM and Powermill are great programs, so you should have no problem with them.
Thanks I will look into them for sure.
Well after talking to a CSR at Autodesk they are changing Inventor into a whole Product Manufacturing Design were you get multiple programs that you most likely won’t need or use. Waiting on the link for Inventor and one for FeatureCam.
Just wanted to do the Add-on here at my new job since they have Inventor CAD without the HSM. Guess I might as well get use to MasterCam again and bite the bullet that it take 5Xs longer to program with lol.
But as the old saying goes I get paid by the hour, well thats my rant for the day.
Pretty sure this is exactly what he is going to send me. So if we do go this route i will get 2 Cam Softwares HSM and Fusion. Marketing Scams
