Currently i am looking into buying a Cnc lathe that it able to make Bigger parts 904mm
Prices variance between brands is big. My question is how much more accurate is an mazak over an haas or is it ad al? For sure that are more brand but i don’t know many more.
The part in its two stages:
The pipe has two steady rest area’s made in stage one, we are Currently making this part on a conventional lathe.
After welding the flenges we use the steady rest again and finish the pipe with a 0.02 mm tolerance bearing housing on each side.
Have ideas? or tips on what machine is the best? I am completly new in the cnc buisnes. What counts for me is a brand that has good schooling & accuracy
We have run Mazaks in our shop for about 30 years and they are solid machines, accurate and reliable.
We bought out another machine shop last year and brought in their equipment (which included a Haas SL30). I had previously looked at Haas machines due to the pricing, but after looking over the machine in person I can definitely say you get what you pay for. The machine is about half the weight of an equivalent sized Mazak and you see it places like the turret (Mazak turret is about 6" thick, Haas is about 3.5") . I thought I would like the Haas machines, but after messing with it in person it just doesn’t have the rigidity that the Mazak has (and it’s not even close). I can hold 0.0002" pretty easily all day on the Mazak and the Haas is a fight to hold 0.0007" .
0.0007 is about 0.15mm right? that is ALOT!
0.0007 is 0.018mm, The Haas machines just don’t have the rigidity to remove material efficiently and hold a consistent size. You may want to look at DOOSAN/DN Solutions as well. I think they are a good compromise between price and repeatability that puts them right in between Haas and Mazak (and probably closer to Mazak in ability).
