Hi. I’m Douglas Eames from the UK. A military organization helped me set up a small engineering company called Guardsman Engineering when I finished my time in the military. I have lots of manual experience, cnc plasma machines and I’ve just bought the brand new Haas mini mill for the workshop. I’m proud to Get a group flag on the U.K. map BOOM!!
Welcome geat to have you hear!
Congratulations on getting your shop going and for planting that flag!
Sincerely,
Tom Z
thank you. I couldn’t have the map without a uk flag lol
Nice to see a group from across the pond - Cheers!
What is your rough location? Great that you are giving back.
I’m in Lancashire.
That is so Awesome… I have been telling people about your group:-)
The cool thing with the group is, you don’t need to be an expert. Just be humble and come together with like minded makers… and learn together.
The tutorials do all the work…
Just take them one step at a time:-)
Thank you Stephen. I’m pleased to be here
Hi Andrew
I’m just outside stroud in Gloucestershire
Hi Titan. Thank you for letting me join this fantastic academy. I now have my first member to my small group but due to the nature of her government job she has no face book. I’m 100% sure it will do be growing thou. One step at a time… we will get there …
Boom !!!
Absolutely understand. We just need to take it slow and let it grow on it’s own… I love seeing all the hosts get excited and can see it is changing many lives… This is so Amazing!!!
HI congratulations on your shop,
I am from South Africa but moving next week to the UK
All the best
Another UK small group noob here too! I’m not a noob as far as CNC goes with 26 years machining and also worked as a Solidworks sales guy to for a while However after getting a 3d printer last year I came across fusion 360 as a free to use CAD program for making my 3d printer files which was great as hey it’s like the proper deal and bonus its free so I can learn it and print little bits of plastic at home…some of it even comes in handy
But after having a quick go at making a model and generating tool paths I’m super impressed that this whole setup is available to play with, to learn and to have fun with! With TITANS of CNC putting the academy together it brings the building blocks together with the models, pre done tooling library and CAM tutorials to the average person on the street!
This is amazing stuff guys! It means non engineering people can design tools they need to get things done, be it an occupational therapist who see’s a need for a patient to help deal with an injury time and time again, a surgeon who needs a tool that he or she cant buy from a sales brochure to assist in a procedure…hell I’m expecting a shed load of builders, carpenters and plumbers to be flooding the market with products that designers and manufacturing company’s didn’t even know there was a need for! The world is full of mechanical engineers in different trades that have never really been able to bring ideas and products to market before.
They can now, or at least get those 3d models made, maybe even generate the tool paths if they go that route but everyone has the ability to learn and develop what is required to make make it happen in a way we can understand in the CNC world without having to spend time trying to 3d model sketches and adding costs only to find it needs re designing to work properly or keep costs down on the manufacturing side!
DouglasEames- I’ve been using HAAS VMC’s for a lot of years (1995-2018) so if I can help with anything just let me know…but to be fair the HAAS UK guys are pretty darn AWESOME at customer support too. It’s like there are no new problems just new users they are that good!
Hi rob. Great to see another Brit on here. Drop me a pm bud and well have a chat
