Help with engeaving

Hello and thank you. I am having a hart time getting a part engraved customer gave me a solid but I can not get Fusion 360 to cut the letters. I added my own text and tried to do it with no success. I have looked into the Fusion web sight and how they show to do it is not working for me!

.

Are you adding the text or was it provided. If you adding text, you can create single line text and use trace mode. If the text is an extruded cut in the model they provided, I would use a centerdill and then pocket out the engraved surfaces. I use a .005" endmill for simulation, but the tool in machine is a #3 centerdrill. Here is a video if you need to add a single line text. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piksX7zP6S0

the engrave function only works from text within a sketch, not an extrusion. if you start a new sketch, add the desired text, then finish sketch, you can select the letters as the geometry in the engrave function. word of caution, engrave will auto generate cutting depth as it will use the diameter of the engraving tool and depth of cut to cut the full width of the character. if you want a single line thin engraved text, i suggest using a font such as ROMAN S. for text under .500, most font will come out as desired as long as you have the proper tool.

I tried both and could not get it to go. I will enplane in an other reply. but I did get it to work!!!

Well this is weird,
I do not ask for help without spending a lot of time trying to do it my self.
I tried to cut the text on the solid model provided by customer made in ProE. Using every method I thought would or should work.
I asked for help here so the end result wold be hear for others to see and hopefully help as a searchable topic.
I asked in the FB page also as it usually provides a quick response. I got help and was able to cam the test I added thank you @DanielLyall .
I have also dun quite some recherche on the Fusion web-sight. I found this video on how easy it should be to cam right off the modal.

Well I just could not get it to work on my part RRRR. You can feel my discomfort!!!
The weekend went by and bright and early Monday morning I opened my laptop and there was an update for Fusion360 that installed. Me being me I felt obligated to make the test exactly like the solid. The Engineer went to such effort to dimensioned every aspect it the text on the PDF. I gave the engrave command one more try.

WOW it worked just as it should!!! Essay pizzy.

It CAMed right off my modal, it comped in for the mill and the angle with a nice smooth entry and exit. I cut the part and it turned out soo good!!! I did brake the only 45 engraving tool I had. I only 5k RPM and tried to turn up the feed to high. I simply switched to a 30 and it cut just as well. I had more engraving to do on this part other than TOP.
The pitcher below is of the simulation of the part.

So to sum up my experience!!!

If at first you don’t succeed try try again.
And don’t forget to say Thank You!
Thank You all for the help!

They keep fixing errors in fusion and do not say anything about it, I hit them up about it a few years ago and just said take the credit, they did not want the credit they are just doing there Job.
