Howdy! I’m looking for a tutorial on how to engrave line art on a Haas. I know there’s a M-code to engrave TEXT (e.g. serial numbers). But I want to be able to do more complex shapes, like company logos for example.
I watched a Haas Tip of the Day a while back where Mark engraved a fancy wax seal with a cursive initial on it. So, I’m pretty sure it’s possible.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Anything other than simple text will require you to program via cam software. you will have to design the logo or text as such that it can be machined via contour, engrave or pocket. here is a simple keychain i designed and will pocket with a sharp point engraving tool.

I have my students watch this, it is modeled for plasma cutting, but same techniques apply to engraving on a mill. We use inkscape to create our vector images. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twgAwrnEVNw

Yup. That’s pretty much what I want to do. I have signature scans and I can edit them with Gimp and Inkscape. I’m just not sure how to turn that into gcode. It would be super-cool if the engraver could go deeper for wider parts of the stroke.
inventor cam and fusion 360 will. use the engrave function under 2d milling. only works if you use font inside the program, adding text in a seperate sketch. just make sure that you take into account the depth that the tool will need to cut to create the width of the text.
