I am having a difficult time trying to figure out how to program a 90 degree live tool in my HAAS SL 30 without a Y Axis. the outside of the part has 4 radius’s the length of the part Think of a screwdriver handle. ( Using Inventor 2021)
Thank you

Your SL30 has index capability?
I do have a C axis and use it to index with live tooling on the face of parts (i.e Hex bolts)
Which CAM software are you using? The simplest way would be to generate a path following the center line of the radius. you may have to create a sketch line or an axis line and then cut that as the path. I would probably create on path, then use circular pattern to repeat path. Check out how it is down in the Titan chess piece (10:50 into the video). https://academy.titansofcnc.com/series/titan-chess-set/cnc-machining-the-titanium-king
Thank you for always stepping up, Stephen! We make the same recommendation whenever a member asks for more information about Live Tooling. (And we have more such content in production now that we have renovated our shop floor!)
