Hi guys I was wondering if someone could help me figure out how to avoid the tail stock and live center in the cam functions of Fusion 360. Seems like there is no way to do it.
I am guessing you are getting code in your post that engages the tailstock function. You can turn it off in your post in the variable settings.
Stephen,
Thanks for the reply. I am going to be using the tailstock. What I am trying to figure out is how to avoid crashing the tool into it. There seems to be no way in Fusion 360 to program around the tailstock. Like you would in milling where you
can denote a fixture.
I normally face the part, centerdrill, then bring the tailstock in play. But if I needed to include the tailstock to avoid any tool interference with tailstock with subsequent toolpaths. I would create another body that has the dimensions of your live center and then engage it to the part. You might bring it in as an assembly or just create another body in your design. You could then turn it (live center body) on or off when necessary.
Iām not sure if this helps? But I have a CNC engine lathe with centroid control and when I use a tailstock I have to change the tool change position in the parameters of the control to keep from crashing into it.
As @Rumpelstiltskin mentioned, you can set your toolchange position to a place anywhere you want. It will be located a distance from machine zero. you can also set your maximum allowed RPM creating a G50 S3000 code.

I quicklly created a live center as a new body

Stephen,
Thank you. I am going to give this a try.
