New Machinist CNC Milling

Ive been a machinist for 7 months now. First two months I only ran parts. Now Im learning setups, finding XYZ, using edge finder, changing offsets, and much more. I need help on learning different styles of thread taps and how they work. Besides Titans of CNC, is there a book or websites that will help me learn about tools, drills, thread taps, and cnc maching in general? If I can get help on this that’ll help me tremendously.

Hi Edward. Congratulations on moving up in your career! It’s good to see that you are also looking for additional ways to become a better machinist. Keep seeking that knowledge and it will serve you well.

There are a variety of other tools on the Academy website that an help with expanding your horizons. While this book is a bit like a text book it will definitely help expose you to the different tools, etc. Check out this link - https://academy.titansofcnc.com/education/fundamentals-of-cnc

I downloaded the book and keep a copy here at my shop for Academy students to review but I’ve found myself turning to it at times as well. Best of luck to you!

This a chart of your thread sizes and the pre-drill hole sizes I have this exact chart posted on the wall of my shop, it helps with the day to day of remembering all the different holes required, these charts are pretty easily acquired by googling them and they are available in both Freedoms (Imperial) and Communist units (Metric)
