Reverse engneering

Does anyone know of a soft wear program that will work with the Renishaw probe on my Haas VF-5 to produce a point cloud that can be turned into a surface for machining?

There is “Inspection Plus Software for Haas” manual by Renishaw, free from your Haas dealer.
All macros are explained Haas has them all, much more then “Quick probe” from control.

You can reverse engineer using a probe but really only effective in a 2d scenario. Like lines and arcs. Hole positions and size. and that would take some learning curve - True reverse engineering is something everyone would like with a CNC mill. There is a company called centroid CNC that makes CNC for cylinder head porting. They developed software to reverse engineer cylinder ports

a cloud of points is more difficult. We have a measuring arm similar to a Faro arm and we use with Verisurf software to capture a cloud of points. You can also use a Laser scanner.

If you read the Haas Renishaw book you will get a sense of what you can and cannot do.

This was on a forum asking the same question.

NX has that kind of process. You basically just import all your XYZ point locations & it will process & plot it like a surface mesh.
