Selecting new cnc

hi everyone

in the shop we’re looking for a new cnc for new pieces, we need a machine with 5 axis and a big table so we’re interested in DMG Mori DMF 260|11 linear or Doosan VCF 850LSR, the problem we have DMG is too big to go through the door and the table width of doosan is smaller than DMG
do you know another machine with similar characteristics?

I’m not familiar with with the DMG brand, so I don’t know if my suggestion would be of any value. However, maybe look at the Hurco tilting head models. They appear to have a fairly large work area for their size. They have a rotary table inset into a regular mill table, along with tilting head to get 5 axis. Could also do double duty as a large 3 axis mill.

You’re most welcome. It is their SRT series of machines.

If the parts will just be 3+2 work, you can most likely get by without CAM. From what I understand, their conversational programming makes 3+2 very simple. Of course, for simultaneous five-axis, you will need CAM.

If you will need CAM. Make sure the machine has the ISNC option. That feature may be standard now. It allows the machine to run ISO / EIA programs, commonly used with Fanuc and Siemens controls. Thus, making post processing much easier.

We have a 2006 Hurco VM-1 (3 axis mill). It has been a solid machine for us. It doesn’t have the features the newer control software has. But has served us fairly well.

Also take a look at Centroid CNC tilting head 5-Axis machines.

Is there anyway you can alter the doorway?
