Can anyone help me? i’m trying to find some document for the speeds and feeds for different materials, does anyone know anything about this?
There are so many variables, a single chart or document will probably not cover, but here is a link I share with my students. It has several charts and lists different conditions that can be affected by improper speeds and feeds. There is info for both mill and lathe… Speeds and Feeds: Beginner Guide with Table - MellowPine
test out a 30-day free trial of G-Wizard Calculator. It’s very useful for both mill & lathe work.
Thank you!! You guys are the best!!

I also have been using the G-Wizard Speeds and Feeds calculator. I just finished the building blocks series and used this to calculate my speeds and feeds for a 2HP benchtop milling machine. It may not be the perfect…but it will get you pretty close most of the time. If you look carefully on the website, they offer this product for hobbyist with a 2HP limit for about $70.00 for a lifetime license.
Not that I am done with the 10 parts, the first project I will be making is a model steam engine that I finished drawing last night. I will using G-Wizard to get the speeds and feeds for brass.
Here is the design:
Best of luck… Richard
The machinery handbook has all that information. It reads more like a dictionary than a book. So if you have a question you can look it up. It has all the information. Also, some high end tool manufactures have that information avaible for their tools.
As us old-timers would say, the Machinery Handbook is our Bible. I found it was easier to teach my students to locate information online than using the Big Book. I had lessons that required them to use the book (index, TOC, etc.), but found if they had internet, had reputable sources, they were much more efficient. I show them it is there and how to find it, but I teach CNC Machining, not how to Literacy Informational Text Research. I can slip in an hour of how-to, but that is taking too much away from CNC instruction.
