Work Holding

Hello

I am looking for information for determining work holding pressure needed? Is there a formula or a chart to figure out torque specs for different materials and tooling?

There is no real base line for torque, the part has a lot to do with it. Don’t crush it. You have to check for jaw deflection.
I would start at 30 foot pounds but just resonantly I used 80.

I don’t know of any actually hard data for Torque Specs on parts. The biggest being that every part is completely different from the next, unless its production runs. I have used certain Torques for all types of parts in various operations. This will be a trail and error type of situation determining what to set the Torque at for your needs.
What I would do is tighten it by hand then get the torque wrench and try to duplicate that pressure. That would be a better baseline to start with in my opinion. Then you can make your adjustments up or down from that point.
