I have downloaded the Titan 2-3M to learn programming with both Fusion and InventorHSM. However, I have seen that Titan uses a shell mill for the facing operation. My question is this, why not use 3D adaptive milling using an end mill? steer me in the right direction.

I would have to say using the face mill gives a smooth finish with no lines on the part.

Using a shell mill on a surface will give you a lot less tool path mark thus giving you a cleaner surface finish 3-D adaptive is all over the place and that would show up on your surface. Adaptive is just for quickly removing material not for finishing.

You are right, its all over the place. When I do a compare after the simulation, the model still shows unremoved metal. Than you for the info. I was using 3D adaptive just to minimize tool changes.
