Titan 8M - Adaptive Tool Path - not right

I just setup the 3D adaptive toolpath and it does not look right. For some reason the endmill goes back and forth between the two holes multiple times. Did I set something up wrong?

Here is the Fusion File:

Here is an image of the toolpath. I circled the back and forth that I think is unnecessary.

Thanks… Richard

I may have found a solution. This was not done as part of the online lesson, but I selected “Order by Area” on the passes tab (see below) and solved the problem.

Is this the correct solution? Did something change in Fusion since the lesson was created?

Thanks… Richard

Thanks… I am a bit confused as to why the tool path on the lesson looked good, but they did not have to use this option.

@RichardSalzman 3D Adaptive many times has no apparent logic to me when I use it. Earlier versions did not provide the “island” feature. Many times I get excessive Z retract paths and find them difficult to remove or edit. The adaptive path will also change based on where you start tool also… IMHO it(3D Adaptive) was developed to easily remove material for roughing, not seeking best efficiency of tool paths.
