Happy New Year!! If you’re new to the TITANS of CNC: Academy and want to know which software is currently supported by our Curriculum, this is the post for you.
Our tutorials teach you how to design and program Academy parts using Autodesk Fusion 360 and Mastercam HLE. Both softwares are FREE to use for all Academy members.
For more information, please visit our Resource page.
How are the Autodesk changes to Fusion 360 free licenses going to work with the Academy lessons? Without features CAM side like multi axis and tool changing, the programming and machining sections dont work.
Please advise, I am just starting fall classes with 2 new students…
The changes are for personal use. Personal use is loosing multi-axis, probing and atc. plus more. Educational use is for enrollment or employment at a [Qualified Educational Institution]. It states that proof of enrollment maybe required.
within Autodesk website. when I tried to use Titans of CNC Academy as the educational institution, it failed. When I went back to the resource tab on the Titans website, and selected Fusion 360, I was sent to the Personal Use license.
This license strips out several key functions and makes stupid code for industrial machines.
I had planned to tutor my grandson and several teens using your course, Fusion and my Haas Minimill.
Thank you for your question. The Academy qualifies you for a Personal (Hobbyist/Startup) License in Fusion 360. Have you considered using Mastercam HLE to train the next generation of machinists? We also offer Mastercam tutorials on the TITANS of CNC: Academy and the Aerospace Academy.
We currently have Mastercam CAD and CAM tutorials available for the TITAN-1M, the TITAN-84L, and the TITAN-85L. Additionally, we have CAD tutorials available for all the TITAN BUILDING BLOCKS and TITAN ROCKET—with many more on our production calendar.
So help me here. I started this journey with Titans last year, it was great. As a leader in aerospace, I could easily see Titan’s vision and path. Now today, working with several students, I am at a loss.
No longer do we have “free” access to the full version of Fusion360 nor Mastercam.
The power of your curriculum is to follow the design build lifecycle. Unless I truly just don’t get it, there is not a “free” tool or tool set that allows me to design a 3d model, program the design for modern 3axis equipment, load and create the actual design.
With Fusion limiting functions in CAD and not allowing tool changes in CAM, I’m stuck.
You bring up mastercam but the Ed version will not post code?
The full featured Fusion 360 is still available for students enrolled in secondary or post secondary schools. This would provide same student 5-axis programming and machine post processing. You can request a hobby version which will provide you 3 axis milling with post capabilities, this is sufficient to learn and machine the building block series. MasterCam HLE will allow you to learn the multi axis programming, but will not allow you to create G&M code to run on a machine. You can still learn the techniques, you can simulate, you would not be able to post and send to machine. Regardless, both softwares will teach you how to design, manufacture in CAD/CAM. Even public schools are subject to the Software companies changes in policy.
