Affordable 5S Tool Drawer organization?

I am always looking for ways to organize my toolboxes (I have sixteen roll around Kennedy toolboxes on the shop floor). They all have the same basic tools, measuring instruments, etc. I have used the Kaizen foam which is great but expensive. Today I got some foam panels in from Amazon and it seems to be well worth the purchase. I bought 12 panels for $48 (that’s only $4 an insert. I cut this out in about 1 hr with one of my students. If anybody has ways to save more money, please add to this topic.

Good job! That is a great idea. I bought a pack of 6 of these for 9.99 the other day, I was going to use them for in the garden, but I will head back and pick up another pack for doing this with - thanks for sharing.

One thing I have done to save some money, by “misusing” a product, are horse stable mats. They are really robust rubber, but reasonably priced if you find a good seller. They work out ALOT cheaper than industrial rubber mats

I had my construction trade program make some wood mats for each machine. Very durable, great on the legs, easy to clean.

interesting! I imagine they work well with chips and coolant too, and can be moved easily enough - thanks again for sharing

WOW! this brings back some good memories of being a young man running “Dean Terrys mill”. It had a plat like that a bit taller throw. The mill had a column spacer and I had to stand on my tippy tows to reach the draw bar.
Dean was a WW2 vet and only worked 2 days a week. That mill eventually was my dally driver. May God rest his sole!
