I am looking to drop the $ on Mastercam and the parts kits. I have access to a HAAS VF4 and a ST30.
I’d like to put this Mastercam setup on the machine next to the HAAS VF4 I have access to.
I am curious of 2 things:
Does this Mastercam license support a VF4 and ST30? (I only have 4 axis capability on VF4).
Once you buy and install the Mastercam license, does it need constant Internet access? That would be an issue where it is located. Internet access for activation, or even occasionally access would be ok.
Not sure of how you plan to use it, but the student version (HLE) does not post code (someone correct me if I am wrong on this). You should be able to run a commercial without internet, you would use a dongle. It has been a while, but I believe you have to pay for each machine type post processor. I only use it for classroom education so you may want to wait for more responses from anyone that uses it commercially.
For situational awareness to anyone coming to the threat, I believe what you’re talking about is the standard free student edition.
I am talking about the Titan Academy specific license, for $160 dollars. I thought the purpose of this software is to be able to post code and actually produce parts. You have to agree you will be making less than $1500 a year when you buy it.
It’s this specific Titan Academy license that I am curious if it needs to be connected to the internet, or how often it needs to be connected? And also, If anyone has used it to post code to a VF4.
Thank you for the input. Hopefully we can get this dialed in.
Thank you for your questions! The promotion is intended to introduce individuals of all skill levels to Mastercam and allow them to focus on programming the many parts featured on the TITANS of CNC: Academy.
Here’s a list of features and capabilities, as stated on the software information page: “Produces G-Code and includes Mill, Lathe, Wire, Router, Design, Art, ProDrill, and Mastercam for SOLIDWORKS®. Participants will have access to the Post Installer to retrieve the standard library of 2- through 5-axis post processors.” If you require a post processor beyond what’s included in the standard library, you will have to purchase it directly from Mastercam.
Further, the System Requirements page states: “Connection to Internet and email is recommended for installation, support, and updates.” The frequency of the connection is not mentioned and you may have to contact Mastercam support to address that specific concern.
Please let us know if we can further support you on this topic.
It appears what I am looking for is whether or not HAAS VF4 and HAAS ST30 are included in the Mastercam for Solidworks “Standard Library of 2- through 5-axis post processors.”
It is not on Mastercam’s website, but I have reached out to them.
Does anyone currently have this license? If so, can you look to see if you have the option to post to a VF4 or ST30?
Well, I have been trying for days now to figure this out and get ahold of Mastercam. The only option they give me is for someone to reach out to me.
Does anyone have a good # for a Mastercam customer rep. that can help me figure out the TitanCNC License, as well as buy it?
Also, still curious if anyone out there on this forum has access to this special Mastercam License, and if you could look into the “Standard Library of 2-through 5-axis post processors.” to tell me if a VF4 Mill and ST30 Lathe are inside of that library?
I appreciate you doing that for me. Now if I can just get ahold of someone at Mastercam, I will be buying this license. Too bad I don’t have the 5th axis for our VF4 so I can complete the whole series!
