Where is the best place to edge find for the 2nd op on 1m? The leftover material? I have ran it a few times and since my stock varies slightly in size my chamfer is off. i do not have a probe just the edge finder. Thank you.
On the set up sheet for first op it says to move in .05 on x and .025 in y but on the video he says to move in .05 in both x and y. Not sure if this is starting me off wrong. If i start with a piece of stock that is 4.130 not 4.1 could this be causing it?
For second op, I place the finished 1st op part in a vise (hard jaws usually). I use a 123 block to zero in the left side stop and the top side fixed jaw. Therefore when I place my part in and against the stop I program my 2nd op to model zero. Don’t forget to either zero off your parallels or if you zero off your 123 block on the 1" thickness, you can subtract .250 from top of 123 block and that will equal top of your model being .750" thick.
I keep one mill with a G54 that is always zeroed off the part stop and the fixed jaw.
I just finished my 1m this weekend. But as a setup guy where I work, I almost always touch off of the fixtures.
