Titan Academy Projects

Hello all.

I wanted to post up a message on the learning area as i am a trainer in Fusion 360 CAD/ CAM and wanted to see if i could find out from the people using it, if there were any area’s within the software when doing the learning paths that you struggled with and why.

I only ask as i want to make sure i give the best training i possibly can and the only way i can do this is to add in more detail in area’s that people may find harder to understand.

I am also looking to do some blogs/ Video series on areas around Fusion CAM and inventor HSM so anything that people struggle with would make great articles/ videos as they may help you possibly understand it better and others who may be in the same boat as you.

Also ask Questions! If i can help i will. I am striving to be more active on Social media and Titan’s is a great place to start.

Lets get those Chips flying.

Hello I have no idea if Fusion 360 will open Creo .prt1 solid model drawings. If so how do you do it?
Thank you
What solids can Fusion open?

Fusion does pretty good at opening lots of other cad formats. Just load the file into Fusion using the Upload button located close to the top left hand side. Some files will then need to be made into a fusion job just right click it and create a fusion file .

hi @Rumpelstiltskin,

As @Billy-Boyce said Fusion is very good with taking in other CAD formats and in answer to your other question Yes. Fusion will take .prt files directly into Fusion using the Upload function as @Billy-Boyce stated above here is the full list of which formats Fusion will directly upload.

Hope this helps.

@SeanIsle @Billy-Boyce that’s totally awesome! Thank you all so much.
With my other cadcam I actually would have to pay extra to add other file formats so I could open them. Or open them in part modeler then save them as IGES then reopen it in Edgecam. :hugs:

1518554585389-655911089It turned out great. I grabbed an old 1/8 endmill that already had one flute broke to use. Thought I would break it right off. Not the case she made it thrue. Thanks @SeanIsle & @Billy-Boyce .
I only had issues with the post adding a T3 after a tool change to T2 but caught it and edited out on the control.

@SeanIsle how did your project turn out?

I found out that the belts on my Router needed tightening hahaha. Ended up with some very oblong holes when it did some magnet pockets. Second run today.

Well eggs are good for breakfast but not that great on parts. I hope it works better today.

I have been using fusion 360 for about 7 months. Only learnt from Titans videos and sale taught. I would say the bit I have found hardest is knowing what 3D cycles to use to do 3D milling and also what I need to define to make the toolpaths I need.

Thank you @MattHall this can be a very confusing area as there are lots of ways to skin a rabbit, but this is something I could cover. I will give you an update once I have done something on it.

To follow up on Matt Hall’s comment. My biggest problem is troubleshooting why Fusion CAM isn’t creating a toolpath. The error messages are often less than helpful. Sean, is your training on-line?
